Wire Rope Tension Meter

Overview

Wire rope tension meter is a simple and effective measurement tool for checking the tension of the wind guyline.

After the mast is set up, the anchor blocks should be made, and then connect the mast with them through the guyline. Whatever kinds of anchor blocks are to be used, its tension bearing capacity must be more than 9.8kN (10t.f) according to API 4G “Recommended Practice for Maintenance and Use of Drilling and Well Servicing Structures”. The capacity should be inspected because different well sites have different bearing capacities due to differences in well site soil, stratum, etc.

When measured, fix one end of the guyline to the anchor block, and exert a pull-force on the other end to simulate its working status. At the same time, use the wire rope tension meter to measure the magnitude of the tension. When the tension force reaches 10 tons, the anchor blocks should have not shown any signs of budging, nor distortion or damages that are noticeable by the naked eyes; Especially that no distortions or cracks should have happened where the guyline are tied up with the anchor blocks.
